How To Report A Scam On Telegram

How to report a scam on Telegram: in-app Report, official @notoscam, and what not to do after. Reporting is hygiene. It is not a refund.

How To Report A Scam On Telegram

Report first. Do not negotiate.

How to report a scam on Telegram is a hygiene move, not a rescue. You flag the account. Moderators review what you forwarded. That can limit or remove a handle. It does not unwind a signature you already gave.

If someone is still in your DMs asking you to "verify," stop talking. Save what you already have. Report. Block. Then sit.

Telegram crypto scams rarely look like cartoons. They look like urgency, a cloned admin, and a contract in the chat. The report is for that costume. It is not a refund desk.

The official paths

Use Telegram's own tools. Do not install a "scam reporter" someone just dropped in the group.

1. Report in the app

On a message: open it, open the menu, tap Report. Pick the closest reason (spam, scam, fake account, violence, other). Send.

On a profile or channel: open it, open the menu, tap Report. Same idea.

Telegram's own spam FAQ is blunt about what Report does. When people tap Report spam, those messages go to human moderators. If the review sticks, the account can be limited. Group admins can report users who post spam in the room. That is the mechanism. It is not a ticket with a case manager.

2. Official @notoscam

Telegram also runs @notoscam. The public listing is Report Impersonation. Reports about scammers are welcome there. Search the handle yourself. Do not follow a link a stranger pasted.

Send the account or channel, a short description of the abuse, and what you already have (message, username, date). You do not need to attach a seed phrase. Anyone who asks for one is not Telegram.

3. What @SpamBot actually is

@SpamBot is for people whose own accounts were limited after spam reports. Telegram tells those users to talk to @SpamBot. It is not how you report a drainer.

This mix-up is how fake helper bots get installed. They borrow the word "spam" and ask for a wallet connect. Check the handle. Close anything that wants a signature to "file the report."

What you are reporting

Name the costume. Moderators see a lot of noise. One clear shape helps.

Costume What it looks like What to send
Last-call token Contract + countdown + "sending" The message, the handle, the time
Fake helper Admin-lookalike DM after you asked in the group The DM, the lookalike name
Cloned bot Official energy, wrong username The fake handle vs the real one
Recovery pitch "We can get the funds back" The offer. This is usually the second scam

Real support does not need your seed. Ever. @chatiportalbot is the Chatito product bot. Anything else wearing the cat is not.

What not to do after you report

  • Do not keep chatting "for evidence." You already have enough.
  • Do not open a mini site they send "to complete the report."
  • Do not paste a seed, a backup code, or a 2FA reset.
  • Do not pay a recovery firm that found you in the same chat.
  • Do not argue in the group. One line is enough: "If the thesis is a contract and a countdown, I'm quiet. You should be too."

A useful telegram member does not soften a countdown with "NFA but." It does not move the play to DM. It does not run a trade from chat.

Mute. Block. If you signed something, treat the wallet as burned for new size. Move what you can to a fresh wallet you control. That is damage control. It is not a win.

Owner hygiene when the room gets hit

If you run the group, you are part of the attack surface.

  • Ban the account. Do not "warn" a last-call contract.
  • Publish the real admin and bot handles in the description.
  • Admins never DM first about wallets. Say that out loud after every incident.
  • New accounts should not pin or drop links on day one if you can help it.
  • The bot stays a member, not an admin. If it needed admin to be useful, it was a takeover tool.

A calm group is a bad hunting ground. A loud telegram trading group is easy. Reporting one handle does not fix a room that trains people to click.

The Chatito line

Chatito does not exist to make Telegram louder. It exists to put process back in a place that trains people to improvise.

Mini App for Challenges. Requested member for groups. No auto-tips. No trade-from-chat. Review before voice.

How to report a scam on Telegram is a short loop: in-app Report, official @notoscam if it fits, then stop talking. If someone is selling you certainty in a group chat, they are not selling a system. They are selling your next click.

Not financial advice. Trading involves risk of loss. Paper is not live. Group chat is never a trade command. Telegram decides what happens after a report. We cannot promise a ban, a refund, or a recovered wallet.

FAQ

How do I report a scam on Telegram?
Open the message, profile, or channel. Use the menu. Tap Report. Pick the closest reason and send. For impersonation and scammer reports, also use Telegram's official @notoscam. Reporting is not a refund.
Is @SpamBot how you report a scammer?
No. @SpamBot is Telegram's bot for people whose own accounts were limited after spam reports. It is not the scam desk. Fake 'report helper' bots exist. Check the handle.
Should I DM the scammer to get proof?
No. Do not keep the conversation alive. Do not 'verify' a wallet they send. Do not paste a seed to anyone who offers to report it for you. Save what you already have, then report and block.
Will Telegram refund a drained wallet?
No. A report goes to moderators. It can limit or remove an account. It does not unwind a signature you already gave. Recovery pitches after a drain are usually the second scam.
What should a group owner do after a scam hits the room?
Ban the account. Publish the real admin and bot handles. Remind the room that support never DMs first about wallets. Keep the bot as a member, not an admin. One boring pattern interrupt beats twenty 'NFA' replies.
